The bigger of the two barn-pine survivors. Same wood, same idea as its smaller sibling: the weathered patina of the old barn kept in place where it earned its keep, and the warm, bright grain revealed everywhere else, two lifetimes on one form. Pine fills the shop with a heavenly smell while it is being carved, all resin and sunlight. Ten pieces of that Steinbach barn came to me in trade; these two vases are the last of them, and this is the larger.
Barn wood from near Steinbach: a neighbour's friend had a huge stack from a barn that had been pulled down, and ten pieces became mine in exchange for two carved vases. Wood that held up a prairie barn for generations, saved from the fire pit. The pin points toward Steinbach, not at any doorstep.

One of one. When it is gone, it is gone. Ships worldwide, fully insured, from the Winnipeg workshop. Every piece carries its tree’s record: where it stood, its rings, and the carving on film. Leave your details and Sean replies personally, usually the same day.
