
The small bowl from the same burl as the vase. Bird's eye texture, the red flame that forms where a maple compartmentalizes a wound with mineral and resin, and dark grey spalting at the rim. One of only four pieces this tree gave up.
Same tree as the vase: the century maple at 600 St Jean Baptiste, St. Boniface, brought down by its final winter. Four pieces were salvageable. This is one of them.
