Apple, carved into one twisting column with a small opening at the top. The grain runs in bands from pale sapwood to red heartwood, and the knots sit in the turns of the form where branches once left the trunk. It is small enough to hold in one hand and asymmetric on every side, so it never shows you the same profile twice.
It has not been sitting in a shop. This was the fruit bowl on our kitchen island for almost a year, and I refinished it before listing it here: my own blend of beeswax, carnauba and mineral oil. Food safe, a soft sheen, slight waterproofing. Somewhere in the carving of this one I had the momentary sense that I am actually a capable carver, and capable is as far as I will ever go with a compliment to myself. I love this piece. I will be sad to see it go, and I hope it goes to a good home. The oak came down at a home in St. Boniface.
This one came out of St. Boniface. Apple grows slowly and rarely gives you a piece this size to work with, so when a tree comes down here it gets carried home rather than cut for firewood. The glow marks the neighbourhood. Exact addresses stay private.

One of one. When it is gone, it is gone. Ships worldwide, fully insured, from the Winnipeg workshop. Every piece carries its tree’s record: where it stood, its rings, and the carving on film. Leave your details and Sean replies personally, usually the same day.
