The first of the floating boards. From above it is a clean plane of tiger cherry, the chatoyancy stripes rolling across it like light on water. Set it down and it hovers: the feet are not attached, they are carved, four smooth mounds rising out of the same solid piece of wood, so the board floats above the table on parts of itself. It is made to be used, for charcuterie, for serving, for tea, and made to be flipped over and admired, because the underside is the secret. Same gifted tiger cherry as the square-and-circle twins in this collection.
Gifted Wood series: the same exceptional tiger cherry that arrived through generosity rather than salvage. No pin, no address; provenance by kindness.
